IE6 No More

IE6 No More Well its been a long time since IE6 was released(8 years..phew!) and well ,IE6 was good back then and served it purpose, however now for a multitude of reasons it is time to say goodbye to IE6.
Why you ask, well because firstly it’s an outdated piece of sofware. Most anti-virus programs update themselves every 4 or 5 hours or atleast everyday, compare that to 8 years!
Because its so old , IE6 lacks or provides inadequate support to the newer web technologies like Flash or CSS.Also, the browsing experience in newer browsers is much more enjoyable and secure with features like integrated or stand-alone search boxes, phishing filters, site and search suggestions, tabbed browsing etc. which have made browsing an easier and safer activity. Yeah IE6 basically sucks, so where’s the problem? The problem is that majority ,yes majority not a large fraction or considerable amount but majority of people still use IE6! Because so many people still use IE6 , web developers still have to make sites that are technologically pre-historic.Because of this both the site visitors and developers are at a loss. The users don’t get a chance to try out new web services while developers have to think twice before implementing any new technology that IE6 doesnt support for fear of losing their customers. Just tell those people to upgrade their browser Thats exactly what IE6 No More is all about. Its a campaign to make people aware that they are using an outdated and easily replaceable piece of technology. You can get more info on their site IE6NoMore.Basically its about putting badges on sites alerting users who use IE6 and asking them to upgrade. Wish this works and really raises the standard of the web ;) Actually, there’s another goof up! But the problem is that most people will not bother upgrading their browser unless it really hinders their business on the web, which most sites wont risk doing for the above mentioned reason, they just go as far as warning you. Another thing is that IE6 comes as the default browser with Windows XP.Hey, but Vista is the latest OS right?Right but a lot (if not most) prefer XP because it consumes less memory and has lesser bugs.Hence,XP is still used widely and also given as the default OS in most netbooks(which are a rising trend by the way) and therefore most people end up using IE6 by default.Sounds like netbooks are screwing the net! It would be better if Microsoft could come up with an automatic installable patch that would make IE6 more compliant, instead of asking users to upgrade outright. PLEASE UPGRADE
