Looking back at month gone by through the lens of the goals i set for myself. I had to call this an audit because Arvind Kejriwal has made this word fashionable. Anyway, Being an asshole: NO CLUE. Don’t know how to measure if i’m being a good asshole or not. Figuring this one out :P Finances: Win. I saved 19k as opposed to a target of 25k but this involved spending 10k on a cycle which is something like a capital expense so i’d count this as a win. No drinking: Fail. I shamelessly modified my “No drinking” rule into a “No drinking unless it’s free” rule and this also has met with one aberration. I’d like to thank the people around me for keeping the spirits flowing :P Fitness: Decent start. I bought a cycle on 10th Jan. I’ve woken up everyday and gone for a round of either cycling or running for 16 out of remaining 21 days of the month . Average run is 5.12 kms, average cycling distance is 15.5 kms. Goals for Feb are to exercise for 24 days in the month and increase both averages by 25%.
Blogging: Fail. I did write 8 posts this month but only 5 of them were either long form or tough to write. The goal of one well researched blog post was completely missed, likely cause being that i forgot to set a reminder for this. Programming: Decent start. I stopped reading a book on algorithms and instead got started with an online course which i’ve almost finished. Along the way i played around with Twitter Bootstrap to improve the look of my personal site, put the lame code for the site into github and just setup a subdomain on my site to start playing with live python web apps. Current affairs: EPIC fail. I barely read the newspaper 2 times this month, i think. I’m changing the process of news reading to be a daily 20 min visit to Google News and saying goodbye to news coming on dead trees . I’ll skip thinking about the periodical till i’m consistent with this.
Quite a mixed bag of results. Let’s hope for a better February.
