I was trying to imagine how does a world where AI is stitched deeply into the fabric of human existence look like.
Dystopian aspects of AI aside, to me it brings a huge amount of automation and consequently buys me huge amounts of saved labour and time.
Imagine a world where your fridge is smart. When you run out of groceries, it places order for you and gets restocked automatically. It has a wallet of it’s own with a budget you set
. You can make party plans and it will use those plans to order extra items by itself, just in time. It bothers you very little, it gets shit done. The fridge appears to be getting closer and closer to a great butler.
Now if we wanted to understand how daily human existence would change with significant amounts of AI, we just have to look at people who are already inundated with assistants - the rich! How will people in the future behave? What will they value in life? What will be their views of the world? Social scientists seeking to understand the post-AI future may just need to just find a few rich friends!
